Coordinator’s Message

The African American Center for Academic Excellence (AACAE) at Humboldt State University has been a vision for several years, but is now a reality. Few campuses in the California State University system have student support spaces or offices with a designated ethnic/cultural focus and HSU is the only campus with fewer than 10,000 students to provide such a resource. Established on September 1, 2015, over the next several years the AACAE will endeavor to become a resource for the entire campus community and continuously expand our capacity and services. Students who engage with the Center will find programs designed to facilitate academic and social integration, gain access to resources, and discover opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and students from across campus in an affirming and comfortable environment.
